8.75 x 12, watercolour on Yupo paper
Paintout # 11, Feb. 9, 2013, hosted by the City of Glendale Public Art Program in conjuncton with the annual Chocolate Affaire, theme: "Historic Downtown Glendale". This is a painting which evolved very much in rhythm with the human activites that took place during the day. Owner Peter Gliniak kindly gave me permission to paint from his second floor patio bar. Check-in to this lovely historic hotel is next to the fountain; note the trolley cart; and tour buses disembark day trippers (upper left of the painting); they can hardly wait to get at the street fair in Murphy Park just a block away. For those not familiar with AZ iconography, I changed the colours of the umbrella to hint at the markings in the state flag. There were strollers everywhere; the event very much appeals to all ages.
