A Note from the Director, Jenny Kaupu, on designing set décor and wardrobe:
"The first to enter the stage are the guards. It is their task to maintain order throughout the courthouse. This job is clear cut, no variations, black and white, and is reflected in their uniforms.
By contract, the job of the jurors is far from clear cut, black and white. They must delve into the sombre areas of questions and doubts. Their jury room is a somber gray.
but in this space are traces of color, in the exposed, faded brick of the old courthouse, revealed and respectfully preserved during renovations, and in the accessories throughout the room. Red and white, and blue traces, a subtle reminder that fair judgement through trial by jury is one of the foundations of our country."
